About Will Chase
I’m a cultural instigator, strategist, advisor, and storyteller. I work across art, community, communications, experience design, and operations.
I’m interested in what people make together—and what helps it work.
Learning from a culture
in the making.
At Burning Man, I worked across strategy, communications, and operations during substantial growth. My roles included Art Department Operations Manager and Council Member, and writing Jackrabbit Speaks, web, blog, and social content.
I studied the community firsthand and interpreted its culture for staff, participants, outsiders, and critics. That understanding informed everyday decisions.
I also led the website redesign, edited and produced the Metropol urban-design series, and helped start the Philosophical Center with Larry Harvey at his initiative.
Since then: art through We Are From Dust and Will Chase Arts; storytelling, podcasts, and articles; and PEAK consulting in community, placemaking, and immersive experiences.
I also co-founded Portland Frog Brigade, organizing public actions, marches, appearances, and town halls. We helped inspire and support brigades in Minnesota and DC, and organized State of the Swamp in DC for the State of the Union.
